Vibrant Milan - a city at the forefront of fashion and home to some of the world's greatest art treasures. Cosmopolitan and lively, Italy's second largest city is a great destination for a break.

Getting around

Milan's public transport system is efficient with services provided by Metro, buses, trams, trolley buses and taxis.

Must sees

View the magnificent Duomo, one of the largest cathedrals in the world and a Gothic masterpiece, and admire Leonardo da Vinci's 'Last Supper', which is housed in the Santa Maria delle Grazie - you'll need to book a few days in advance. The 19th-century Museo Bagatti Valsecchi is dedicated to a collection of 15th and 16th-century antiques, and the 19th-century Parco Sempione park with its aquarium and fine art gallery is also a must see.

Must buys

Home to Armani and Versace, Milan is the ideal place to buy designer fashion. Browse in the galleries and antique shops of the Via Fiori Chiari and pick up a bargain at the Saturday flea market.

Must tries

Milan offers a great choice of Italian and international restaurants. Regional specialities include risotto alla milanese (a saffron rice dish) and osso buco (veal in tomato sauce). One of the best areas for cafes and bars is the Navigli district around the city's canals.
