What’s the weather like in the Canary Islands in February?

Located in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa, the Canary Islands are a popular destination for year-round sun. In February the subtropical islands enjoy mild temperatures, perfect for relaxing on the beach or exploring inland. With some cloudy days and chilly evenings, you’ll need to bring some light layers for warmth, but there will be plenty of sunshine. On some islands the weather can be quite different from north to south, so do your research before picking a resort. The occasional shower is not uncommon, but usually very short-lived.

Averages

In February, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria enjoy average temperatures of 18°C, with highs of 21°C and lows of 14°C at night. Tenerife is slightly cooler at this time of the year, with an average temperature of 16°C. If you want to swim in the sea, the water is still a reasonably cool 18°C. On average the Canary Islands have seven hours of sunshine every day and just 20mm of rainfall, making it a great winter sun destination.
