And If seclusion is what you’re after, there are off-the-beaten-track spots too. Pass-a-Grille Beach is a small dune-backed shoreline, away from the hustle and bustle of high-rise hotels. For ultimate seclusion, explore Shell Key Preserve, accessible only by boat, where you can fully disconnect and immerse yourself in nature.

Nature & Wildlife Adventures

Explore the wild side of St. Pete-Clearwater

Beyond the beaches, St. Pete-Clearwater is a playground for nature lovers. Its vast open spaces offer so much adventure both on land and at sea. Kayak or paddleboard through the lush mangrove forests, and you’ll likely encounter dolhpins or manatees along the way.

The Gulf of Mexico is also a treasure trove for divers, with some of the best spots to explore underwater caves and shipwrecks teeming with marine life.

Or for a taste of that castaway life, hop your way across the region's most secluded islands. On Honeymoon Island State Park, four miles of unspoilt soft sands meet three miles of virgin pine. It's also home to a remarkable bird population.

On land, Brooker Creek Preserve spans 8,700 acres of pristine wilderness ideal for hiking. Explore pine flatwoods, traverse cypress swamps, and keep an eye out for native wildlife.  You could spot white-tailed deer, gopher tortoises, and river otters.
