Vietnam - currency

Vietnam's official currency is the Vietnamese đồng (VND), symbolized by ₫. Each đồng is split into 10 hào.

Vietnamese banknotes come in denominations of 100, 200, 500, 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000, and 500,000 VND. The đồng has been the country's currency since May 3, 1978, issued by the State Bank of Vietnam. If you're heading to Vietnam, keep an eye out for the VND symbol ₫ when checking prices!

There are lots of ATMs in the cities, however you may need to carry cash for the more remote towns.
